Acts of sabotage paralyze TGV connections
PARIS - According to the French railway company SNCF, a massive sabotage attack was carried out on the high-speed train network last night. During the night from Thursday to Friday, numerous signaling systems and cable shafts were damaged by arson, causing significant disruption to TGV traffic.
The Atlantic, North and East axes are particularly affected, where train traffic is massively disrupted shortly before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Paris.
The SNCF stated that the repair work will continue throughout the weekend. Many TGV connections had to be cancelled, causing significant delays and inconvenience for passengers. The routes from Paris to Lille, Strasbourg and Bordeaux as well as various regional TER lines are particularly affected.
This attack comes at a very inopportune time, as Paris is about to open the Olympic Games. The SNCF is working hard to repair the affected routes as quickly as possible and to implement additional security measures to prevent further incidents. Travellers are strongly advised to postpone their journeys or use alternative means of transport. Current information and updates can be found on the SNCF official website and via its mobile app.
