8:10 PM IDT - American security circles share the view that an Iranian attack on Israel could take place this week.

7:53 PM IDT Iran has prepared its missile and drone units similarly to how it did before the April attack. /// Iran has prepared its missile and drone units, taking similar steps to those observed before Tehran's unprecedented attack on Israel in April, according to senior officials from Washington and Jerusalem.

These officials emphasize that neither Israel nor the US can predict the exact timing of the retaliatory strike that Iran has threatened in response to the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last month.

A senior Israeli official also stated that "the Iranians are clearly signaling, both through their actions on the ground and their public statements, their determination to carry out a significant attack, surpassing the one they carried out in April. Iranian public declarations show no signs of retreat."

In its first direct assault on Israel, Iran launched approximately 300 missiles and drones on April 13-14, most of which were intercepted by Israel and its allies.According to high-ranking officials the precise timing of the anticipated retaliation remains uncertain. Meanwhile, the US announced this morning that it would massively increase its presence to protect Israel.

07:15 IDT Egypt has issued a curious NOTAM instructing Egyptian airlines avoid Iranian airspace between 0100-0400 UTC / 03:00 - 06:00 IDT on 8 Aug. HECC A0363/24

Aug. 5, 2024Release Number 20240805-02FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TAMPA, Fla. - In the past 24 hours, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces successfully destroyed three Iranian-backed Houthi uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen over the Gulf of Aden.

Additionally, USCENTCOM forces successfully destroyed one Iranian-backed Houthi UAS in a Houthi-controlled area of Yemen.

Separately, USCENTCOM forces successfully destroyed one Houthi uncrewed surface vessel (USV), one Houthi uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) and one Houthi anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) in the Red Sea.

These weapons presented a clear and imminent threat to U.S. and coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region. This reckless and dangerous behavior by Iranian-backed Houthis continues to threaten regional stability and security.

04.08.2024 - 22:24 IDT Senior Israeli officials have reportedly informed Bloomberg that an attack from Iran is imminent and could be executed directly by Iran or through its proxies, Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen. The potential attack is expected to target key government installations in Israel using drones and missiles, with intelligence assessments indicating it could occur within the next 48 hours. This situation raises the risk of a broader regional conflict.

09:30 IDT - A terror attack occurred early this morning in Holon, southeast of Tel Aviv, in which an assailant attacked several people with a knife in different locations. A woman in her 70s was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency workers. Three other people were injured and taken to the nearby Wolfson Medical Center: a man in his 70s is in critical condition, a 68-year-old man was seriously injured, and a 26-year-old man suffered moderate injuries. The attacker was shot dead by security forces. The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region, as Iran and its proxies have vowed retaliation for the killing of terror chiefs. Israeli security forces are on high alert to prevent further possible attacks and ensure the safety of civilians. The quick response of security forces on the ground prevented further casualties. UPDATE: 10:00 Meanwhile, another injured person has succumbed to their injuries.

The terrorist organization Hezbollah launched rocket attacks on northern Israel again last night. According to the Israeli army, about 30 projectiles were fired from southern Lebanon, most of which were intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. No damage has been reported so far.

Hezbollah stated that this attack was in response to Israeli attacks on the Lebanese villages of Kfar Kela and Deir Siriane, in which civilians were injured and two Hezbollah fighters were killed. This marked the first rocket attack on the settlement of Beit Hillel by Hezbollah.

Ali Abd Ali, a member of Hezbollah's Operative terrorist organization in the southern sector of the front, was killed in a drone strike near Tyre. The IDF called this a "significant blow" to the functioning of Hezbollah's southern front.

US CENTCOM - General Michael Kurilla, the commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), arrived in Israel on Saturday amidst concerns of a significant Iranian retaliation against Israel following a series of targeted killings, according to a report by Axios. The report, which cites two US officials, indicates that Kurilla aims to recruit Middle Eastern allies to prevent any attacks from Iran, akin to the April 13 attack on Israel, but with the expectation of a larger scale retaliation.

Furthermore, the Biden administration is reportedly worried about the difficulty in garnering support from Middle Eastern allies because the killing of Haniyeh—an act for which Israel has not taken responsibility—is perceived within the context of the internal Israel-Hamas conflict. Both Israeli and US officials have indicated that the anticipated attack could occur as early as Monday. Although Kurilla's trip was scheduled prior to the killings of Hezbollah's Fuad Shukr in Lebanon and Hamas's Ismail Haniyeh in Iran, he is leveraging the visit to strengthen regional defenses in support of Israel. Kurilla is also expected to visit Jordan and several Gulf countries during his trip.

16:00 IDT U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has decided to deploy the aircraft carrier "USS Abraham Lincoln," along with additional warships and fighter jets, to the Middle East. This action is intended to enhance the protection of Israeli airspace. American and Israeli security circles suggest that a renewed Iranian missile attack is imminent, potentially on a larger scale than before. It is anticipated that the heavily armed Hezbollah might also participate in a retaliatory strike.

According to Jan Busse, a Middle East expert at the University of the Bundeswehr, such a strike could be more challenging to defend against. In an interview with German Broadcast BR24 , Busse emphasized that the risk of regional escalation is currently higher than it has been in recent years. However, he believes that Iran's primary objective is to restore its deterrence and that there is no interest in an open war on the Iranian side, despite the current spiral of escalation.

01.08.2024 16:46 IDT Hamas-Führer Ismail Haniyeh was killed by a sophisticated remote-controlled bomb smuggled into the Tehran guesthouse where he was staying, the New York Times reported. Contrary to initial reports of a rocket attack, the bomb had been secretly placed in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) building about two months ago.

Citing seven Middle East officials, including two Iranians, and a US official, the report highlights that the precision of the attack was similar to that of the remote-controlled machine gun used by the Mossad in the 2020 assassination of Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

Israel has not officially commented on Haniyeh's death, but is widely blamed for the assassination. Haniyeh had come to Tehran to attend the inauguration of Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian. The bomb that killed Haniyeh and his bodyguard was detonated remotely. Aside from broken windows and a partially collapsed wall, the guesthouse suffered minimal damage, suggesting it was not a rocket attack.

These result in temporary closures of specific airspaces, particularly in the Tehran FIR (Flight Information Region). Reports indicate increased military activity, and aircraft are advised to avoid these areas.

The Iraqi airspace, especially over the Baghdad FIR, is also partially closed. These closures are due to ongoing military operations and security risks, including armed conflicts and unmanned aerial vehicles. The northeastern part of Iraq is particularly affected. The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority has implemented these measures to ensure safety in the affected areas.

In Lebanon, there are airspace restrictions mainly due to the proximity to conflict zones in Syria and tensions in southern Lebanon. Specific no-fly zones have been designated as dangerous for civil aviation. The Lebanese airspace, particularly over the southern part of the country, is restricted due to military tensions and activities in the region.

In Israel, several airspace closures and restrictions are in place, particularly in areas near the borders with Gaza and the West Bank, as well as other potentially vulnerable regions due to current military tensions and exercises. The event was also attended by other officials from Hamas, Hezbollah, and allied groups.

Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard is investigating the attack but has not yet disclosed how it was executed. An Israeli military spokesperson has not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident.

Hamas issued a statement declaring Haniyeh a martyr and expressed condolences to the Palestinian people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and supporters worldwide. The statement emphasized Haniyeh’s commitment to the Palestinian cause, quoting him on the willingness to bear the costs associated with it, including martyrdom for the sake of Palestine, God, and national dignity.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has stated that Washington will support Israel's defense if it is attacked. This assurance comes amidst efforts to reduce regional tensions following the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran. 10:55 (IDT) WASHINTON / JERUSALEM /BEIRUT - The United States is currently conducting intensive diplomatic efforts to prevent Israel from attacking Beirut or key civilian infrastructure in Lebanon in response to the rocket attack on a soccer field filled with children and young people in northern Israel.

Washington is trying to prevent a full-scale war between Israel and the Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah. The focus of diplomacy is calling on Israel to refrain from attacking densely populated areas in Beirut and key infrastructure such as airports and bridges. Elias Bou Saab, deputy speaker of Lebanon's parliament, said that Israel could avoid escalation by sparing civilian targets and Beirut.

Although Israel is keen to hit the terrorist organization Hezbollah in order not to drag the region into all-out war, there have been no promises to spare Beirut or civilian infrastructure. A US State Department spokesman stressed unwavering support for Israel's security, while the White House made clear that Israel had the right to respond to the attack but wanted to avoid a larger war. Diplomatic efforts are aimed at achieving a calculated response similar to the one that prevented Israel from launching a full-scale counterstrike against Iran in April.

Since October, Hezbollah has regularly attacked Israeli communities and military posts in support of Gaza. These clashes have already resulted in many casualties on both sides. France is also participating in mediation efforts to de-escalate the situation. The Israeli Home Front Command has so far issued no new instructions to the population, indicating that the military does not anticipate any imminent danger. (TOF)

Lebanese Foreign Minister Bou Habib told American news channel CNN that the Lebanese government had been informed that Israeli retaliation would be limited and would not provoke war. There was no concrete information on the nature of the response, but it was assumed that neither the airport nor the southern suburbs of Beirut would be the target of an attack. (Kan News)

Following a security cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant were given the authority to decide on the timing and nature of the response. Ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir abstained from voting.
